Which is what happened to me today. I had French first thing in the morning, and apparently I had (accidentally) signed up for "advanced" French, largely written. Which will be better, as it is difficult to analyze rapid French and Finnish at the same time. Also, I can write in slightly better than basic French, and a fair amount. And when I spoke, my thoughts came out in half French, half Finnish. Oh, what joy.
But then to add to the mix, I also had beginner's level German today. Which I understood a fair amount- it is starting to come back to me. So that was a plus, and I spent a decent amount of time counting the words that are the same in English. So I would assume I have an advantage there.
Organization of thoughts:
Languages I can speak:
Finnish, enough to order food/buy tickets/etc.
German, exceedingly basic, with some conjugation, need more vocabulary and grammar lessons
French, passable and can write, but need to mentally separate from Finnish
Swedish, horrible, less than basic understanding, and I can't conjugate well at all
English, a language I used to speak fluently. We'll see if so after this year...
Why did I post this? Free wifi, and I have half an hour til orchestra rehearsal.
